Business Manager 這個職位聽起來職責範圍很模糊不清。究竟他的日常工作包括了甚麼？今次讓我們看看UBS的一個招聘廣告。

Job title: Business Manager
Business Manager 大多是一個歸某一個Business Line COO旗下的職位，其實是高級打雜，甚麼關於該Business Line的大小事務都一腳踢。
CEO是管策略的，是公司的figurehead；CFO是管財政和資金運用；而所有其他事務上至合規與監管部門打交道，下至茶水間太污糟都是他的職責範圍。當然COO只是一個人，有三頭六臂也照顧不了那麼多。所以很多時候會有一個COO Office 或Business Manager的職位幫他打點一切，讓COO可以騰空時間就合規﹑營運和風險管理等制定大方向。
因為是COO的替身，所以Business Manager雖然工作上很打雜，但多有很大權力。
Your role
Are you trustworthy in driving the business forward? Do you know how to make sure things run smoothly? We're looking for someone like that who can provide business-related services and support to Investment Products and Services (IPS) Asia Pacific:
– develop and implement business-wide action plans and key initiatives
– coordinate across IPS units and partner with Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Controlling
– manage or facilitate a portfolio of projects, assist in strategy papers, regulatory surveys and reportings
一個Business Line會有自己想進行的項目，包括發展新產品，同時市場上又會有新的發展例如滬港通，又或者監管機構有新的規例。這些的推進都有賴Business Manager 去實踐。我會再寫一篇關於項目經理(Project Manager)的，關於這一個功能可參考我將會寫的這篇。項目的推行需要與不同部門，包括後勤營運部門(Operations)﹑人事部﹑法律部﹑合規部﹑會計等等，分析項目對各部門的影響，距離實現項目的目標還有甚麼工作要做，再一步步確保所有工作在限期之前完成。
Business Manager 還會負責為管理層提供管理資訊(MI – Management Information)，比如說員工流失率﹑新客戶數目等，讓管理層更有效作出決策。
– evaluate and mitigate risks, adhering to financial targets
另一個Business Manager的重要功能是管該Business Line的收入和支出 (Profit and Loss)，每年做財政預算，並經常監察實際收入/支出是否符合預算預期。如有不符他亦需要與管理層商議如何改善財政情況。
– instigate change initiatives that drive the business forward, aligned with global strategy
– manage internal communication and intranet presence; plan and coordinate education and training
同時他要確保Business Line以內所有員工獲得合適和足夠的培訓去進行他們的日常工作和符合內部/監管機構的要求，並採取有關監控或測試。例如他要為前線員工提供新的法規的培訓，以及監察員工有否把公司的客戶資料/機密資訊洩露出去。
另外Business Manager 要管理的雜項還包括辦公室設施﹑與外判商關係和辦公室搬遷等。
Your team
You'll be working in the regional Operating Office within IPS in Hong Kong. The team is involved in a wide range of activities, such as leading regional projects, coordinate front-to-back activities, support key meetings and committees, drive budgeting, planning, cost reviews/resource allocation, provide infrastructure management and administration, and facilitate staff development. We work closely with the various business lines within IPS as well as with the business management of the markets (Wealth Management front units) and logistics/control functions.
